Ears pierced!

Yesterday was a BIG day for Kennedy. She got her ears pierced! I went back and forth for some time about piercing them, but I'm so glad I did. She did great, considering the circumstances, and looks like a little doll! 

Big brother was VERY concerned and begged me not to go through with it. Ha!

I switched out diaper bags before going and in the process left out my good camera. So all I have are blurry phone pics. Whoops!

November

November is quickly concluding and I can hardly believe it!! I love everything about the fall, but my favorite season and holiday are around the corner. :)

Tristan had career day at school on Friday. He dressed as an NBA player. Mama explained to him that in order to get into the NBA, he needed to get into a good university. I also explained how important his education is and that it's something no one could ever take away! He was so intrigued with the conversation and had plenty of questions. By the end of it, I got him to agree that if he was drafted to the NBA before graduating, he would finish school first. Ha!! It works out to his favor that his pediatrician says he will be approx 6'10 as an adult! 

I picked Amari up from school and he was dressed like a bball player, too. He told me he also wants to go to the Army and be a scientist. Ha!!

This little girl has had the snotties, cough, teething, and topped it all off with her second vaccine. It was a brutal couple days for her (and us). Dwight and I are NOT use to a fussy baby so it was definitely challenging at times. Thank goodness for humidifiers, homeopathic medicine, and grace! We got through it and she is back to being a happy girl!

Ken and I have done lots of shopping this past week getting readyfor the holidays. So excited to celebrate her first Thanksgiving and Christmas!

Call it the last child syndrome or just being more comfortable as a parent, but this girl is getting some food perks around our house. She got her very first graham cracker and downed it!

Tristan LOVES pushing Kebbedy around the house in this walker, and she loves it too. They literally went around the house like this for 30 min while I cleaned house on Saturday. :)

Happy (early) Thanksgiving! 

This week...

How is it the week before thanksgiving already?! The boys have early release tomorrow and then our holiday officially starts!

I can't help but think of the thankfulness in my heart with my new "job". Staying home with my babies is everything to me and I feel blessed to do it! This week we have crammed in as much fun as possible! 

Monday, we woke up to "snow"! In Texas, this counts as snow and we were thrilled to have it. Pitiful, I know. Ha!

While T was at school, Kennedy and I met my sister for shopping and lunch. We had so much fun with you, Natalie!

Later that night, Dwight and I had a stay at home date night, fireside. It quickly went down hill when we realized the chimney flue was closed and our house was ENGULFED with smoke. It was so bad that I a) almost called 911, b) could not breathe and c) had to pack up the kids and go stay at my parents for the night. Waking up two sleeping children, no fun! We aired the house for THREE day. It's better but still smells like a camp fire. Whoops!!

Tuesday; Bible study with my churchGateway  Group, then a play date with Willow and her mama! Love them!!

Wednesday, I volunteered at the boys school and ran errands all day. Ken came down with a cold that day and we have been having a rough time at night. 

Thursday, another playdate! Shopping and lunch with Ty, Liberty, and their mama aka my BFF college roommate. So fun! 

Tomorrow, baby girl has her second vaccine and I've promised her a special shopping trip after. ;) Sunday is a BIG day for her. She is getting her ears pierced!! 

That's our week in a nutshell. We are now ready to usher in the holidays! 

A new chapter

Life is a funny thing. It comes in chapters, seasons if you will...good times, and sometimes difficult times. I think to myself daily, "I LOVE this season in our lives!" It is so sweet. 

I love the ages my children are at. I love that I'm home with them. I love watching my husband flourish in his career as a coach and fulfilling his dreams. I love that my babies still need me to fix their food, get them dressed, and keep them safe. They won't always need me like this. 

This is a new and exciting chapter in our lives, and with the turn of each page, God is shining his face upon us. Let his blessings flow! We receive them. 

Tristan is the best big brother. I am able to give him small tasks with his sister and he does it with such joy. I often times ask him to play with her in my room while I get ready. As I peak out from the bathroom, I catch glimpses of sweetness like this.

I cannot put into words the joy in my heart being able to stay home with Kennedy. We already have our little routine and she knows it. :) one of my favorite times of the day is in the morning after I've taken Tristan to school. I take K in her room to change clothes, fix her hair, and play. I think it's her favorite part of the day, too! It's our girl time.

Dwight is now an assistant coach at a private school in Fort Worth. I had to miss their first game of the season because I was studying for my counseling exam (more on that in a bit!). He came home for lunch last week and surprised Kennedy and me with beautiful flowers. I absolutely love that he got her some!

Mimi also surprised us that day with some after school treats. Nothing better than a Starbucks delivery!

I got some much needed catch up time with my good friend, Krystle and she brought to my attention that Kennedy's 1st birthday falls on Easter! Of course, me being slightly obsessed with parties and planning...I took to Pinterest immediately. I know it's early, and by no means am I trying to rush the process; but when the time comes, I'll be ready. Ha! The theme will be "Some bunny is turning 1!" How fun to celebrate our Risen Lord and Kennedy on the same day! 

I have been trying to sleep train this girl, and it's not going so well. The rock n play is going to be the death of me. Ha! I won't give up!! We need sleep. ;)

So, on to some BIG news: I PASSED MY EXAM!!! I literally cried tears of joy as I walked out of the testing center holding the piece of paper that said I passed. When I say this test was hard, I mean it was HARD. And I, instead of studying for months prior, crammed a 700 page into a week and half. I do not advise this. I finished my test in two hours, they give you four, and scored a 104 (you have to make a 91 to pass). It was 200 questions and aroud question 120, I started to get a little delirious. Ha! I called Dwight as soon as I got in the car and told him the good news. He was so, so happy. 

This little boy keeps me laughing. I asked him today if he misses me while he is at school. He told me he did, which shocked me. He LOVES school. I probed a little more and he said "I really don't, mommy, I just didn't want to hurt your feelings." Ha!! And yes, that his very own milk steamer from Starbucks (again, thanks to Mimi, he is addicted).

Out to dinner to celebrate mommy passing her test. Tristan was so happy for me. He was quite concerned that I pass since I studied so hard. Sweet boy!

Kennedy and Brianna have quite the bond. B is such a sweet big sister and takes such good care of Ken! Dwight and I ended our weekend with the kids by lighting our first fire of winter in the fireplace, making s'mores, and squeezing all six of us on the couch to watch the 'Polar Express'. 

These are the days of my life!

Weekend and Wedding fun!

I am catching up on the blog today because I feel like I've neglected it here lately. I've been studying for my HUGE state licensing exam for counseling, a lot. My study guide is 670 pages long and very in depth (thankfully), hopefully it is preparing me for the 200 questioned exam that is staring me in the face. Studying for such an exam with small children is near impossible. I try and catch up on reading during nap time or late at night, until I pass out around 2am. ;) Besides studying we have been having lots of fun! I am loving every moment of being home with my sweet babies. It'll be even better when I'm not worried about studying for my exam!

 

 

Yesterday, my little sister had her first wedding dress adventure. She has begun the hunt for finding the perfect dress. It was so fun watching her try on several different styles and seeing the glow of happiness on her face. I took Kennedy, who did fantastic, and Tristan, who kept asking her to try on a blue dress Ha! Dwight was coaching and could not keep the boy child. He survived! 

 

 

Kennedy has been rocking pigtails here lately, and I must say...I'm obsessed. Her hair is so long (only on the top), yet so curly...so I've been combing it out a couple times a week and fixing it in a style. Other days you can catch her rocking the baby afro with a headband/bow!

My boy lost his second tooth yesterday!! And by lost, I mean I pulled it...after bribing with chocolate and using a few scare tactics; if I don't pull it, you might swallow it! You want the tooth fairy to come tonight, don't you?!? Needless to say, it was no small feat. But, mission accomplished.

 

 

 

T had a sleep over with Mimi and Poppy last night, so this girl had her mommy and daddy to herself! I never get tired of dressing her up and putting bows in her hair. There is something just so fun about a baby girl. She is my joy! 

 

 

The kids are out of school tomorrow and the weather is suppose to be beautiful (before a cold front moves in on Tuesday). I don't know what we will do, but it'll be outside for sure!
