Little Man On Lock Down!

My Tristan is into EVERYTHING...if he isn't suppose to have it, chances are it is in his chubby little hands. The light sockets have been covered for months now but the one thing we were slightly delayed on were baby gates. One would think as long as you kept an eye on TK then you were in the clear. Only one problem; the child crawls faster than I run! ha not really, but close.

Today my mom and I went to Babies R Us stocked up on organic treats for Tristan (he eats more than a teenage boy! I can't imagine what my grocery bill will be in 18 years.) After filling the cart with organic juice, yum yums, teething biscuits, puffs, crackers, chicken noodle soup (yes even that was organic!) we went over to the gate asile and got two gates; one for the kitchen entry...Tristan's favorite place to escape to is the kitchen and the entry to the hallway. We came home and IMMEDIATELY installed the gates, Tristan was NOT a happy camper; he likes to have free reign of the house and we are cramping his style. :)

***Side note*** Babies R Us and Toys R Us have a WONDERFUL selection of organic baby products; cleaning, formula, foods and even diapers and wipes! Target has some of the same stuff but not nearly as much. I am very big on feeding Tristan organic and equipping his little body with the best nutrients I can while I still have a say so! So, just fyi for you mommies and daddies out there who are the same.

Before all of that we went to the bakery, "Hot Chocolate" that will be baking T's 1st birthday cake and tried some cake samples and saw what Tristan's cake will look like. I am SO excited!! My mom has been hard at work planning it. If you came to my baby shower then you know how obsessed...I am mean perfectionistic about things she is! lol I am so thankful that she is so hands on and loves her grandbaby so very much. The cake is designed, the party favors and decorations are picked out and I have even started birthday shopping for presents! This is a very special occasion and Tristan is the only baby in the family so you can imagine how big of a deal this is. :) And yes, we let Tristan try a BITE of the chocolate cake. He LOVED it, I have a feeling that he will be diving into his smash cake.

Tristan's Weekend

As usual we have had a pretty busy weekend. Friday we spent most of the day at Cook's Children down town working out details of Tristan's surgery. Saturday was semi-relaxed; I had a lot of errands and cleaning to do and Sunday we went to church, out to eat with Lesley, Faith, Braden and Colby and I got to get my hair done!! It's so nice to have some ME time every once in a while. :) Tristan was asleep when I left and woke up from his nap about 2 minutes before I got home, such a good boy! I am going to get a pedicure one day this week; every mom needs a little pampering every once in a while!

Summer school is wrapping up I have this week and then 2 after then I get a whole 10 days of summer to enjoy before I start my LAST year at DBU. I am so excited! As of yesterday I have decided that I am going to start making Tristan's baby food myself instead of buying it. We have been using Earth's Best organic brand and he LOVES it but I am positive I can produce the same product...cheaper! And yes Tristan still eats baby food at 10 and 1/2 months. I really don't ever let him eat table food; I figure one day that is all he will eat and until that day I am going to shove all the nutrients in him possible! Right now he has a jar of fruit baby food for breakfast and some of his organic cereal puffs. For a mid-morning snack he usually has some blueberries which he LOVES or strawberries and again some puffs, his favorite! Lunch time he gets organic lunch meat and another jar of meat or veggie baby food and...you guessed it, PUFFS!! For a pre-dinner snack eats a jar of fruit baby food,then for dinner he eats his yo-baby organic yogurt mixed with his rice cereal. Needless to say Tristan is a PIGGY!! He is still on formula of course but now I give him a little treat in his bottles; I fix however many ounces of formula he needs then I put one ounce of the yo-baby organic liquid yogurt in it and he gulps it up in no time. I typically only do that for his night time bottle but every once in a while I'll do it for a nap-time bottle. My little boy is continually growing and changing every day. He has started standing by himself and he says "bubba" which is what I call him. It is PRESH! Oh I love this little boy and just when I think my heart can't possibly love anymore than it already does...I am proved wrong! :)

Best Buds!

Tristan is so lucky to have so many little friends; Faith is for sure one of his best! Every Monday and Wednesday I watch Faith at her house and of course bring Tristan along. We get there around 7:15am and stay until about 6:00pm. I have known Faith's family long before she was born...since I was 8 years old! They are much more than friends to me; they are like family. I love my little Faithy like she is my own and she knows is. :) I have so much fun dressing her up in all her girly clothes and putting big bows in her hair...and occasionaly Tristan's! ha ha We typically have a weekly photo shoot...they will appreciate it one day, I just know it! Happy 10 Months & 1st Hair Cut!!

Today was Tristan's 10 month birthday!! I can't believe that my son is growing up SO very fast. He changes so much every single day; I look at him and think ..."where did that little 6lb 8oz baby go?" TK is so much fun though and possibly the smartest baby I know! :) It is amazing to me how someone only 10 months old, unable to speak and still so dependent on those around him can understand what we are saying to him. I have been trying for a while now to get Tristan to clap his hands and he just wasn't getting it. He would normally hit his fist together; even still it was precious. But yesterday I looked at him and said "Bubba clap your hands!" AND HE DID IT!!! The right way, of course for the next hour the entire family was asking him to clap his hands. He is such a good sport!

Tristan's tricks:
-clapping his hands
-giving sweet kisses!
-says Mama when he sees or wants me
-crawls faster than I can walk
-pulling up holding on to something to a standing position
-standing up alone (only 4 times, but still!)
-waving "hi and bye"
-finding his pacy in his sleep and putting it in his mouth

Along with his 10 month birthday came Tristan's FIRST hair cut! As much as I hated seeing those curls go, they were out of control. :) We cut A LOT off; he would get so hot with this 100 degree weather and all that hair so hopefully this will help. He looks babier to me as well since he doesn't have so much hair to hide behind. He sat in his high chair eating a strawberry while his aunt Natalie cut away. I plan on growing it back out and by the time it reaches the length it was at he will be old enough to sit still while I braid it because I LOVED the braids, they will be back for sure!

Tristan's Surgery

On Thursday Tristan had an appointment with the Cook's Childrens pediatric surgeon. Tristan has had a belly button hernia since he was born, his pediatrician was never really worried about it; apparently is pretty common among babies, I know quite a few that have one. Fortunately that is not the area of concern (he is going to kill me one day for posting this! ha). My poor bubs also has a testicular hernia and unlike the belly button hernia, it was formed in the womb. The surgeon explained that during the gestational period the hernia forms and has to be operated on because unlike the belly button hernia does not fade over time. The thought of my baby having to be put under and cut on does not make me too happy BUT I have utter faith in the surgeon who my mom and I LOVED and of course the Lord to get him thru the process safely. Since it is such a delicate area and close to the reproductive system they will use the magnifying classes to be PRECISE in their every move; one slip could result in the inability to reproduce which he also explained is a 1 percent chance.

This kind of stuff really doesn't bother me or send me into a flurry; it'll all be okay. ALL I care about is that my son is HAPPY and HEALTHY! If the hernia went unfixed then intestinal problems could occur because that is what both of the hernias are, his intestines pertruding through the belly button and the "other place". I am going to make the appointment for before his first birthday because I don't doubt that little man will be walking by then and I would imagine it would be nearly impossible to get a 1 year old to "stay off his feet." :) I'm thinking early August. Also, the surgeon explained that the stiches will be internal and that they will give perscription pain medication but that most children are okay with simply Motrin.

If he is given gifts on his monthly birthdays...I can only imagine what he will be spoiled, I mean LOVED with on the day of his surgery!!

A picture from the last blog entry I forgot to post of my little man standing like a big boy!

Braided Boy!

Since the day Tristan was born, he has had a FULL head of hair. It started out straight as a board and so silky; it was beautiful. Then at about 3 weeks it slowly started to curl. My hair is naturally ringlets of curls so I was shocked when he was born with out one curl on his little head. Now, his head is full of the tightest curls I have ever seen. From pictures and far away it doesn't look curly but when you are close and see the roots it is unbelievably curly. At about 5 months my bubba's lower half of his hair started to fall out. This is very common with babies because they are laying down a lot and the hair rubs off. It will grow back but it's taken some time. So right now I just say he has a little tupey of curly hair on top of his "little" head! :) That being said I was running out of options with what to do with it. I really don't want to cut it because it is SO long, again hard to tell from pictures but when I pull the curls down they come to his eyebrows.

I am hoping that as he gets a little older the bottom half of his hair will fill out and the curls will losen and be bouncy! My hair was LONG and CURLY as a child, and now...I just straighten it! I normally wet T's hair and put organic products in it to give it a not so "wild" look. But I have been wanting to try braids. I UTUBED, yes...I had to U-tube braiding hair, and learned how to do it. I never wore my hair in braids as a child, my mom let me wear it down or in pony-tails so I had some learning to do!

After Tristan fell asleep, I began this oh-so fun task! He stayed asleep for the most part with a few little cries in between and after 1 and 1/2 hour the job was done. Now it's not the best work I hope to ever do but it was my FIRST time, so cut me some slack! :) I really like his hair braided it just looks neater and it allows for you to really see his face. I think he looks more babier with it like this and I LOVE that! So below is some pictures of our adventure...enjoy! :)

Long day, TIRED boy!

We had a LONG but super FUN Friday! Tristan and I had a playdate with 2 of our favorite girls, Grace and her mommy, Laurie. We met at Chipotle and had a yummy lunch then went for a swim at their house after. The water felt GREAT on this smoldering 104 degree day, ugh... Texas weather! The babies had so much fun together and are finally at the age where they acknowledge each other's existence. After swimming for 4 hours we headed home and I fed my very HUNGRY boy, he sure can eat! After dinner was bath time, we dumped out all the bath toys, played and splashed. :) Tristan was practically falling asleep in the tub; the sun wore him out. As I was dressing him in his pjs and giving him his bottle he was dosing off. I put him to bed and he was knocked out after about 2 seconds. I am so PROUD of my boy for really taking to his night time routines and SLEEPING.
