Danching Machine!! :)

As I have mentioned before Tristan LOVES to dance. It is the cutest thing ever!! He has his 3 or 4 moves and he sticks to them; he hops...or tries to at least, spins in circles, shakes his maracas, and does this shoulder shrug thing. It cracks us up!! Anyway, I caught little man on camera yesterday dancing to the Dragon tales theme song, his favorite! Take note that he is wearing a diaper and sandals, that is because he insist on wearing shoes AT ALL times. It is the craziest thing! Most kids try and take their shoes off but he will sit and say "shoes....shoes....SHOES!!!" until you put them on him; even before bedtime when he is in his pjs, he thinks he needs them on. HA! Not sure why that pic is so blurry but its cute nonetheless!
Remember to pause the music on the blog before watching its on the lower left of the page!

My BIG Boy!

I look at Tristan everyday and cannot believe how HUGE he is!! I love that his long legs dangle when I carry him on my hip and that unlike most little kids he has to duck to go under tables, or on a slide. His feet have touched the foot rest of his high chair and stroller for forever now and he can even hop out of his carseat all by himself! Even though he is big he is STILL my baby! :)

This morning, bout to go to school! Doesn't he look 3 in this picture??

Notice our foyer has a face lift? Mimi and Poppy have been hard at work redoing it. They still have to replace the front door and add the decorative touches; well my mom does! :) Anyway, for some strange reason its one of Tristan's favorite "rooms".

So excited! He is still adusting to school and being away from mommy but he loves it and we love checking in on him each day through the camera system, it's SO cool!

Saturday Tristan and I went to go see Landon and his mom Sasha! She is my age and our families lived in Africa together; our fathers were good friends. I looked for pictures of her and I together in Africa as little girls and couldn't find any. I know there are a TON so I'll have to keep looking!

Sweet boys!

This weather is perfect so after picking little man up from school today, early I might add! We went to the park and played for a long time. Tristan did the CUTEST thing, he want to swing on my lap so I put him facing me and swung for quite a while. I looked down and he was sound asleep!! I love mommy moments like that. :) Afterwards we went by sonic got us each a drink and called it a day! Well, I FINALLY have a laptop again; my old one was infected with a virus and crashed so I haven't been able to upload and update like usual. Hopefully now that I have a new one I can get back to the blogging world. Hope everyone had a fabulous Tuesday!!

Picture Post!

HOW cute is this little hiney!!

After a busy day at preschool, a dinner date with his mommy at Pei Wei and a trip to the bookstore to buy him a new book, Tristan was d-irty and in need of some good scrubbing!

My lil helper putting his toys away!

love those BIG brown eyes. :)

Brushing his teeth before bed tonight with his organic kids toothpaste from Sprouts!

He actually does a really good job, plus it feels good since those back molars are cutting.

This is his little stinker face; he knows it's cute!

Reading his new Thomas book! He loves to sit in the glider alone and read; I force my way in though!!

Tristan's FAVORITE room in the house is my mom and dad's room, we have no clue why; but he loves it. They have this reading chair/couch and it's the perfect height for T to climb on so he does, ALL the time. He loves it and my mom loves that he loves it...have I mentioned she has an 11 x 18 portrait of Tristan above her bed?? I am not even kidding, I will have to post of a pic of that. I told her when we move I am taking it; I may have to pry it from her hands though!

Listening to my friend's birthday card that sings, he loves it but after about the 5th time it gets pretty annoying. Ha!

Since my boy is GROWING up so fast we've been trying new things. One of those is using silverware, his favorite thing. He absolutely loves eating his cereal with milk (yes they are both organic!!) He makes a huge mess but it's worth it.

I was cleaning while he ate, looked up and this is what I saw. He LOVES the way the milk taste after the cereal has been in it...don't we all!?
A few side notes:
  • I am going to a wholistic chiropractor next week for my back. She is located in Southlake and is suppose to be super good...but interesting! I am so use to western medicine and being given a prescription after a dr. visit so it'll be different to be worked with and allowing her to "read" what my body is saying and go from there. She will give homeopathic remedies instead of drugs which is a good thing. Anyway, I say that because she also works with children and infants; Kris, a wonderful friend of mine recommended her and uses her she can work with kids who have ear infections or other medical issues and treat them with out antibiotics. It's really important for me to explore all avenues and understand that the more meds I take and/or give Tristan the more risk there are in the future. God gave us medicine so I definitely believe there is a time and place for it BUT if there is an alternative I will certainly take that first. If anyone is interested, here is her site http://www.wholistichealingchiropractic.com/, check it out, its VERY interesting and beautifully done! Lesley went today with her daughter Brooke and said it was quite an experience. :)
  • Second, my mom has updated her blog after SIX months!! She is doing great and wanted to give a health/life update! http://cindymafima.blogspot.com
Happy Thursday, the week is almost over! :)

Tristan's Tricks & Funny Phrases!

Tristan changes SO much every single day. We've always said he's very smart, especially since he does not have an older siblings to mimic or learn from. It seems like on Wednesday about 100 new wires crossed and clicked in his little brain and he blossomed into this little man. I need to start writing down ALL the funny things he says and does because I know I will forget. So here are a few of them!! :)

T usually sleeps in his crib until about 7am and then he'll get in bed with me and we'll sleep until 8-9am. One morning he got out of my bed all by himself, stood beside it and said "Mom, mom, MOM...get up!" Clear as day. I laughed and did as he asked. ha!

I was brushing Tristan's teeth yesterday morning and needed to get his top ones so I told him to say cheese. With the SWEETEST little face and voice he said "Chhheeessseee". Ahh it made my heart melt!

My mom and I are so impressed with how much TK loves to help. He can understand just about everything we speak to him and I try to use direct objects as much as possible and steer away from indefinite articles of speech so he really gets what is what. I asked him yesterday to help me clean and to put his toys in the basket. He immediately started picking up and after all his toys were put away, I looked over and he was sitting in the toy basket!

We all know my boy is TALL. Well the other day we were cleaning again...we do that a lot! I asked him to put his cups in the kitchen. Now, I never point to where I want him to go and I'm usually no where near the location, I want to see if he REALLY gets what I am saying. He picked up his cups went straight to the kitchen and put them on the COUNTER!! Yes, my 18 month old can reach our counters, how funny is that?? :)

At bathtime all I have to say is "Okay we're all done!" and he stands up and put s every. single. toy away! I love that he LOVES to clean. He also puts his clothes in the hamper!

But, my all time FAVORITE new "trick" he does is...drum roll!!! He points to himself and says "Tristan!" I had no clue he could do this until I was talking to him and said something like "Tristan can you (fill in the blank) and he pointed to himself and said it!

It is so amazing to see how the Lord made children, how they are like little sponges and how they will repeat anything you say! We were outside yesterday and I said "Oh God!" because Tristan was about to fall and he repeated me. Just a reminder that I need to be super careful what I let those precious little ears hear because his precious little mouth loves to repeat. :) I absolutely LOVE this stage, it has to be my favorite of all of them. I love that our relationship is blossoming and we can do even more stuff together and converse while doing so!

Tristan loves to dance, go outside, snuggle, ride in the car, EAT! His current favorite foods are strawberries, pineapples, blackberries (he would honestly eat fruit all day long if he could), string cheese, yogurt, and we found out the other night that chicken alfredo is his all time fave meal. He is doing very well using utensiles. He always wants a fork, spoon or something! I have begun to let him eat cereal in the morning with milk and he enjoys it big time!

Well those are just a few of the precious things my son does and says and a few of the things he likes. He is growing up so fast and since starting school naptime and bedtime are even easier. I think he is finally appreciating God's gift of sleep!Today I put my massage gift card to use and it was A-MAZING!! I could honestly live there. My sister Natalie took Tristan to Barnes & Noble's for story reading and to play with trains while I went. My back feels SO much better. It had really been hurting me lately due to the aftermath of pregnancy and carrying around my big boy. Thanks Ashley & Mel for that great present. If any of you mom's are looking for a great spa The Corinthian Wellness spa in Southlake is to die for...the WHOLE experience from waiting in the luxurious, relaxing waiting room in a cozy bath robe, cup of tea/water, a plate of fruit and chocolate, a waterfall streaming from the ceiling, the most beautiful scenes of nature playing on a movie screen and calming music playing in the background to the actual massage. I know what I want for Mother's Day! I love to be pampered! :)

Aunt Natalie took pics of little man on their date!

He made lots of new friends. Apparently the boy on the right is named Tristan as well! We've never met another Tristan before.

She said the story teller gave them all a cookie to munch on during the story!

I think he liked it. :)

Hmmm can you tell he was in the care of an aunt?? He got a cookie AND lots of sips from her Starbucks. I can't wait to get these girls back one day! HA!

Happy Saturday

Tristan's 1st Day of School!!!

How can it be that my baby boy turned 18 months old and had his FIRST day of "school" on the same day?? That's too much for a mommy to handle. :) We had a early morning...I got up and got ready for school at 6:45am while little man slept. I woke him up at 7:30am and got him ready to go! I LOVE that Tristan's school is literally 5 minutes from our house; it leaves room for mornings like today when I am running wayy behind...which is partly why I picked it! I dropped TK off, drove to Dallas and was 15 minutes early!! I couldn't believe it. UNTIL, I got out of my car and went to grab my book and bag and realized it wasn't there...and neither was my wallet that I put in it the night before to "save time". Ugh!! So needless to say I had no books, none of my assignments, or money to buy breakfast, lunch or put gas in my car. YIKES! Thankfully I have a wonderful sis who works on campus and gave me the lunch she had packed so I could go straight to my internship after class and amazing, forgiving professors. I had JUST enough gas to make it to the office and follow one of the counselors to court for one of our clients. I was SO excited to sit in on a hearing but the case ended up getting rescheduled for next week. It is like a whole new world!! Since we didn't have court I got sent home with a book on MST (Multi systemic therapy), the counseling technique that the agency utilizes with clients to read. Since I got home 4 hours early than expected I decided to grab my wallet, get some gas, lunch and come home to enjoy a QUIET house, eat my lunch with out a little beggar by my feet HA! :) and catch one of my fav talk shows, Ellen! I even had some left over time to clean the kitchen, my room and spend some much needed time with Jesus ALL before picking little man up at 4:30pm. I was so excited to see his little face! He was sitting on the floor playing when I picked him up and the teachers said he did great!!

Ready for his 1st day! :)

Tristan's school camera system installed that allows you to pay a one-time fee and have access to your child's class room at all times so you can watch on the internet at your leisure. We will be getting that tonight! Every day they send home a report sheet of what the day included and Tristan's said he had a wonderful first day, was in a happy mood, ate all his raviolis and a banana for lunch, he learned about stars today and painted them and got to play outside where he tried to eat sand! ha ha The most shocking was that he took an hour and 1/2 nap on his little cot! I couldn't believe it; he never does that at home for me! Its clear that Tristan is going to benefit tremendously from this program. He will be there every Tues and Thurs from 8:30am to about 4:30pm and occasionally on Wednesdays when I need to study

They even had a sign greeting him this morning!

The main lobby. It is painted and decorated so adorable!

Well, T-man must have had an exhausting day because he was begging for bed at 6pm. I kept him up to play, eat dinner, bathe and get the sand out of his hair. But, he went RIGHT down at 7:20pm with out a peep!!

leaving school! I can't believe how fast he is growing up.

My sisters give me a hard time for celebrating Tristan birthday every month but if they knew ALL that went into this little boy, they would celebrate everyday!! Ha. :) I had to get him something special, especially for his 18 month birthday so we made a trip to Target since today is Poppy's birthday to get a few presents for him and one for Tristan. Now you get the line in the poem about not knowing if Target or the house on North Park Dr. is home! :) I let him pick something out and I wasn't shocked when he went for the books. He loves, loves to read! I directed him to one of my all time favorite books that is SO fitting for us. We read it before bed tonight and it made me want to cry, but a good cry! "I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always, as long as I'm living my baby you'll be."

HAPPY 18 months Tristan Kye!

Happy 22nd Birthday to Me!

I am SO blessed. I have the best family in the world! :) It is so encouraging to know that I have a family who sees all I do for Tristan and how hard I work and to honor and acknowledge that. My birthday started off with my 9:30am Spanish class...not so much fun BUT my 11:15am class got cancelled and that was a gift in itself. :) I debated staying in the library and getting some homework done but after much deliberation I opted to go home to my baby! I came home and was eagerly greeted by my boy. We ran a few errands, went on a playdate and then up to Tristan's school to turn in some final paperwork. He starts tomorrow!!

My awesome, amazing, FABULOUS family was sooo good to me. We went to dinner at 7pm at this delicious place in the Arlington Highlands called Gloria's. Best food, ever!! They surprised me with a ton of fun gifts; a$100 gift card to get a massage at my FAVORITE place in Southlake called The Corinthian Wellness spa, a $50 gift card to Victoria Secret, a gift card to get a deluxe manicure and pedicure and my sister Natalie made me the most precious present from her and Tristan. It is a a poem which she framed with a few of T's pictures, footprint and handprint. It definitely made me cry!! They topped the celebrations off with a cookie cake, a tradition on my bday...I can't remember a birthday that my cake was not a cookie cake. We ALL enjoyed it, including our waiter! We came home to a sweet present on our doorstep from Mrs. Barlow; a lavender, sleep lotion from Bath & Body Works. It smells A-MAZING, I definitely lathered that on and had a great nights sleep.

Ready for dinner!

Look who found his bellybutton...it's pretty hard to miss! :)

My sweet boy!

Aunt Ashley likes to hold Tristan like he is 3 months old...

There, that's better!

Ashley and Natalie. Don't they look like twins??!!

At Gloria's!

Can you tell I had a long day?? Ha!

All my cards!

Tristan's card to me. It said "Life would suck with out you mom!" He was so sweet and got me the mani and pedi gift card to go in it. I have the best son!

The card from my parents, it sang the theme song! The few times I have free time you can usually find me watching my recorded Friends shows on the DVR.

I never thought the day would come when I would have to order Tristan his OWN food from the kid's menu!! He got cheese quesadillas and loved them!

My yummy cake. :)

The woman who brought me into this world on 3-16-88...Can you believe I was 10lbs 3oz?? Poor momma!

I can't believe I am 22. I can't believe I am about to graduate from college. I can't believe I am a mom of an 18 month old. I can't believe where God has brought me from and where He is taking me. I can't believe how incredibly blessed I am. I can't believe that even better things are to come. What a wonderful birthday!! Thank you Mom, Tony, Ashley, Natalie, Melody AND Tristan for the best birthday ever. I love you!! :)

I leave you with the poem from Natalie and Tristan!
"If Tristan Could Talk"
If Tristan could talk
More than a sentence I mean
What would we hear?
Here are some things
That I think his lips
Plump and pink as could be
Would say to his mommy
on her birthday of twenty two
Ma, why do you go to school
And study all those heavy books
Why do you fuss over my hair, pacifiers and looks
You sure go to the store a lot, Ma
And so I just can't decide
Do we live at Target or the house on North Park Drive?
Well, I guess it doesn't matter cause I have fans wherever I go
I suppose I owe you credit for my cuteness, down to my toes
I love all my friends
Grace, Faith, and Emma to name a few
I have a lot of girlfriends
I kiss them regularly---I'm Goo (his nickname), it's what I do!
But there's one girl, a lady really, who I k now I like best
T'was she who let me suckle and cradled me to her chest
She took wonderful care of me from when I was just a tiny peanut in her tummy
I knew from her voice when I'd come out, she would love me, love me, love me!
I know why you poor over all those books
Why you work so hard attend school and fuss over my looks
I know why I have more girlfriends than NBA playboys
Because my mommy loves me more than anyone else
She gives up her sleep, and manicuring her nails
All to take care of me because I'm her number one
Yes, my Ma, I love her more than anyone
What is that you say?
You don't believe me
Let me tell you just a few things
When she is gone I cry and fuss
I run to the door saying in my own way "come back! you must!"
No one feels like she does
Or hugs or kisses or smells like she does
I'm loved and cared for by many hands
But there's nothing like the feel of mommy's hands
I know at times I wail and throw my fits
But at the deepest part of my heart
Is a piece where only her piece fits.
