Summer fun has just begun!

I have had such a great first week of being a SAHM.
I am beyond thankful that I get to be home and take care of my precious family.
Monday we went to the lake. Tuesday I had a much needed girls day with my friends. Wednesday, Mimi picked Tristan and I up bright and early so we could head out to the Fort Worth zoo. We had severe thunderstorms the previous night so the temperature was PERFECT.
We didn't break a sweat (my kind of a day)!

My favorite animal, zebra!

Tristan has been to the zoo more times than I can count but this time was different.
The joy on his face and the excitement in his little heart was something I'll never forget.
We really had the best time.

I think Tristan's favorite animal was the giraffe.

Mimi bought fish food so they could feed the fishies.

Since the storms hit us Tuesday night I figured our trip to the zoo would need to be pushed back.
But I woke up at 7:30am to a text from Mimi saying the weather should be okay and she would be over at 8:30am; she said she had promised Tristan last week that they would go to the zoo and she didn't want to break it. So I peeled myself out of bed and got us ready! :)
**Side note: Tristan is already half her height!**

You can't see it here but I have the WORST sunburn. It hurts so very bad. I am not a huge fan on tube tops but there was no way I was putting anything on my shoulders; I couldn't even let the seat belt touch them in the car. I have always prided myself in the fact that I can get 5 shades darker in a matter of minutes of being in the sun come summer time and never burn, apparently I can no longer pride myself in this. Ha!

Since this was a special treat day, Tristan got to have dessert before lunch (Mimi's idea).
So we stopped at dip n dots and ordered banana split ice cream!

There is so much to see and do at the zoo so we got there right when it opened and I am so glad we did.
It wasn't crowded and we had time/energy to do everything we wanted.
Here are Tristan and Mimi checking out the sharks!

Tristan is terrified of birds. There is a place where you can go in and feed birds as they fly above you; Tristan would not go in there if his life depended on it. When we saw these beautiful Macaws he stopped and admired them...maybe we're making progress in our bird fear?!? ;)

Of course a trip to the zoo is not complete unless you ride the carousel!

After a quick ride on the horses we headed to the Texas town part of the zoo for lunch.
I LOVE the age Tristan is at. We are approaching the end of the 3's and although it has had its rough moments, this really is one of the sweetest ages. He is like a little friend; we can hold conversations, laugh and enjoy each other's company.

After lunch Mimi insisted we stop in the amazing candy store (seriously?!?!)
I'm so use to her stocking this boy full of fruit but I guess she decided to let lose. Ha!

Tristan pick out a ring pop candy, then we ordered the most delicious cheesecake fudge! YUM!

Showing off his ring pop!
(I need to do a better job of cleaning my camera lense, sorry for the bluriness.)

As we were walking out of the candy shoppe Tristan asked to ride the carousel again...guess who said "yes"??!! I guess that's what grandparents are for; to spoil their grand babies. :)

After our last carousel ride we caught the train and took a ride on it!

Thank you, Mimi for such a fun day! We love you and are so grateful for how invested you are in Tristan's (Brianna and Amari's) life.

Tristan of course passed out on the way home and got a good hour nap in.
After he woke up we met some friends to swim at our pool.

Dwight wasn't so sure I should go given the fact that I am beat red but I told him I would put sunscreen on and stay in the shade most of the time; if only it were that easy! Of course Tristan is a little fish and wanted to swim non-stop so there was no staying in the shade. I did put sunblock on us but it didn't help much.
Needless to say, no more pool/outside time for me until this burn heals.

Such a great day!

The affects of swimming 3 hours, 2 days in a row.
Lesson learned!

This morning Tristan had speech therapy at 8:15am. Since November he has been going once a week to work on building strength in his tongue muscles that were supressed due to him having a pacifier for over 3 years. Today, the speech pathologist re-evaluated him and was very proud to announce that his test scores came back right on track for his age...meaning no more speech therapy! I am beyond grateful that we were able to get Tristan such excellent care at Cook Children's Hospital, and at an early age. We will take him back in 6 months to make sure he is still on track but she said in her professional opinion; "Tristan will have no more issues with his speech." I agree! :) Tonight is my first summer school class so I have to get back in "school mode". What a wonderful first week of being at home I am having. I truly am so very grateful to be with my son and husband every day. I cherish this time with them!
I am off to have lunch with my hubs and bubs!

Happy Thursday!!

Memorial Day

We had such fun, fun Memorial Day!
Our day started off pretty early; we headed over to Mimi and Poppy's for breakfast.
The menu included homemade blueberry muffins, omelets and lots of fruit.YUM!

Of course we had to wear our red, white and blue to support the American troops.

Can you tell which child is the most difficult to take pictures of?!? Ha!

Mimi and aunt Ashley had a few surprises waiting for the kids, new floaties!
They both went in and got the kids these really nice, coast guard approved floaties.
Tristan, Amari and Brianna LOVE them!

Yes, I know...we are a family of giants! :)

After breakfast we headed out to Joe Pool lake to meet Dwight's dad's family for lunch and some swimming! They know how to have a picnic!! SO much food and I enjoyed every bit of it.

It was SOOOO hot. I lathered the kids down in their all natural (Burt's Bee's) sunscreen but we still got some major sun.

I spent most of my time holding baby Croix, my niece.
I love this baby!!

After the lake we headed to G-momma's house (Dwight's mom) for dinner and sno cones!
Needless to say, we were exhausted and came home and crashed.

Thank you to all the men and women who have served our country and fight for our freedom.

Today I had a fun girls day with 2 of my bffs and got super sunburned. I am off to take a cold shower and try to calm my poor skin. In all my 24 years I have never been burned; I get a tan quickly but that's it.
Well, I learned the hard way today that the first summer sun I get, I have got to put on some sunscreen!!

Weekend Wrap Up!

We had such a FUN weekend!
Friday was my last day at work so that launched the weekend off to an amazing start. I am just SO excited to be a sahm!! I cooked dinner and we had a low key night at home. After dinner we went on the balcony for Popsicles and to enjoy the beautiful Texas weather.
I <3 summer nights.

The kids needed a good scrubbin' by the time they sucked down their ice cold pops, so that is exactly what they got! I love how fresh and clean they are after bath time in their little pjs.
Daddy and I let them watch one tv show in our bed and then they were OUT.

Saturday I hosted my bff, Krystle's first baby shower!
I am so thankful for our friendship and the many seasons in life God has taken us through together.
This shower was for her high school/college friends and she got lots of fun stuff for Mr. Ty.

Dwight stayed home with the boys and I brought Brianna with me.
She was excited to go and was such a good girl!

I have to say a HUGE thank you to Mimi for decorating and making all the food.
Seriously, she needs her own business. The theme was sailor/USA/nautical since Krystle's hubby is a Navy Seal (and deployed right now...say a prayer for him) and Ty's nursery is sailor themed.

My mom made these cookies from scratch, icing and all!

I had my friend Tracy make this canvas for Ty, it turned out perfect.

The adorable invitation!

High school and college friends of Krystle.

This morning we got up, went to church and then to Poppy and Mimi's house for lunch and fun.

They LOVE Mimi.

My sorry attempt at a picture...and I'm missing two children. Ha!

The kids enjoyed blowing bubbles, playing baseball...

eating snacks while waiting for lunch...

eating lunch and dessert (yummy homemade banana pudding)...

and playing in the sprinklers!

My hunky husband. :)

As you can imagine the kids came home and took an amazing nap; it was 3 hours long. Ahhh!
After napping we were all hungry (again) and decided to go to Pei Wei for dinner.
Have y'all seen the new computerized drink machines?!? I hadn't but Pei Wei had them and they were THE coolest thing ever. The drinks are run by a touch screen computer and each soft drink had like 5 different flavors that you could add to your drink. It blew my little mind. Ha!

The kids eating with chopsticks; Amari gave up and used the fork (smart boy).

Tristan ate the entire meal with his chopsticks and actually did good with minimal messes...that's a big deal people!!

Tomorrow we have a fun day at the lake planned with Dwight's dad and step mom.
The kids are super excited! I am already lovin' this sweet time with my husband and kids.
As much fun as this weekend has been we have kept at the forefront of our minds and hearts what it represents for us as Americans. Tomorrow is Memorial day, a day to honor the men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice, their lives, to defend our freedom.
God Bless America!
