Memorial Day Weekend!

We had a weekend FULL of fun, celebrating, and enjoying time together as a family. Brace yourself....there are A LOT of pictures!! :)

Friday was LD's 2nd birthday party! I already did a post on that, but here is one of  my favorite pictures his mom took of us at the party.

Sunday we went to church then I took the boys to round two of LD's birthday party! His grandparents had a bunch of people over to swim, enjoy some more cake, presents and fun together. The boys had a blast!

They have a huge backyard and the kids love running around in it.

This little boy was the "brave" one, trying to give his momma a heart attack with how much he loved the water.

This little man didn't want to leave my arms while we were near the water. He was not having it!

Amari choose to spend most of his time at the water table! :)

Elliott and Tristan!

He tried so hard to play baseball, he did pretty good but I definitely think bball is our family sport. :)

We went straight from this swim party over to Tim's (Krystle's dad) house. Amari took a 3 hour nap, Tristan took a 30  minute nap. Ha! We had so much fun!! Tim made the most delicious meal, and Krystle helped too.
Krystle making the most delicious fruit salad. It was a hit!

We spent the evening in Tim's masterpiece of an outside living room/kitchen. He built this thing himself!

Tim also has a beautiful pool and it is where the boys wanted to spend all of their time. They are definitely water babies!

Tristan loves Krystle so, so much. He cannot get enough of her, can you tell?!

Tim also had some friends over and the boys had a blast showing off for their captive audience. Here they are "shaking it" for everyone. Ha!

Monday we spend the entire day at the horse races!

The boys ready to go see the horses!

The boys walking with Papa!

Watching for the horses to go by!

The boys got to ride ponies and were in heaven!! Amari had the biggest meltdown (which is pretty out of character) when he had to get off.

There are several good food places to eat at the track but our favorite is a restaurant out there. It has the yummiest food! We got it to go and ate it under a tent where the breeze was fabulous. Mom and I shared chicken fried steak, yum!

We went to take the boys to ride the ponies again since we had promised them we would and when we went back they were packing up the ponies. I felt HORRIBLE!!! So, instead I told them they could run around in this field...that would only work with 2, two year old boys! :)

Cutie pies!

Friday Fun!

Yesterday we celebrated one of Tristan's friend, LD's 2nd birthday. It was so much fun! I took both the boys and they were SO happy to see each other. I love seeing their faces light up each weekend when they are together.

Afterwards Krystle and I enjoyed ANOTHER girl's night! We are really getting good at this.:) Her dad, Tim had us over (again!) for an amazing dinner. We ate chicken shiskabobs, the yummiest rice, texas toast, and vanilla ice cream with strawberries drizzled in chocolate syrup for dessert...he is the BEST cook and spoils us, we love him! We hung around and chatted then came back to her apartment for a sleepover, except we didn't sleep much. We talked until 3am! I am so blessed to have so many amazing friend's who are more like sisters to me. Love that girl!!

Well I am off to get ready and go try on bridesmaid dresses for Kry's wedding!

A day with my boy!

I had another very productive day, this is starting to become routine around here. :) Tristan and I got up this morning, ran some errands and took my car to get an oil change and the tires rotated. Tristan loved watching them work on all the cars from the lobby.

After taking the car in we grabbed lunch and took it to the park.

After lunch  Tristan and I headed home for a nap and to run a couple more errands. I started thinking about things and realized my son will be 3 in THREE months!! How is that possible?! I decided it's time to give this potty thing another go around since Tristan is a little older and has had a break from it for a while. I am so proud to report that he went pee pee in the potty twice tonight and wore underwear to Target and the rest of the evening! I rewarded him with M&M's and it worked like a charm. He is only wearing underwear during the day and diapers at night, if that means cleaning up a few messes here and there, so be it but by golly he will be potty trained by September!

We also enjoyed a bike ride/run with Krystle. She ran pushing the stroller and I rode the bike. We went about a mile and Tristan was having SO much fun!! This boy loves to be outside and to go fast, he always tells me "go fast mommy!!" when I am pushing his stroller...so if you ever see a crazy woman, pushing a stroller while running across a parking lot/park lawn/sidewalk, it could be me and T! :)

It is way past my bed time and we have another busy day tomorrow, one of Tristan's friends is turning 2 and we are going to celebrate!

TGIF!!!

A night of tornadoes and thunderstorms

My day started off so calm.I got to sleep in until 10am, I woke up, ate breakfast, did a devotional and relaxed. The day got much busier around 1pm when I had an appointment that took 6 hours of my day. My mom texted me around 5pm as I was leaving the appointment telling me to get home soon because the weather was getting bad. I honestly wasn't too worried and after an hour of rush hour traffic made it to Krystle's apartment for dinner.

I cooked chicken Alfredo, gave Tristan a bath and we were all relaxing having a good time. Krys and I were talking (imagine that!) and Tristan was watching Finding Nemo. I told Krystle what my mom had said earlier and she said "Maybe we should turn on the news..." So, we did. I put on channel 8 and the weather man said "the storm will hit at 10 till eight. I looked at my cell phone and it was 7:47pm. I looked at her and said "we have 3 minutes!" So we literally RAN out of her apartment, blowing out the candle, grabbing Tristan's diaper bag and I am ashamed to admit...I debated on if  I should grab my freshly opened dr. pepper. I opted not to since I would be carrying T and it hurt to leave it behind. Ha! We were going to drive to Krystle's dad's house who is literally less than 5 minutes from her apartment.

We ran down the stairs, I handed Krystle the baby and told her to run to the car so I could lock the door. As we opened the apartment door it started hailing BAD. My stomach dropped and I asked her if we should just stay, we decided to try and make it since she is on the 2nd floor. Other people in the apartments were running to their cars to leave too. I am a carseat freak, it's ridiculous, but not that night. Krystle held Tristan in the back seat and we hurried as fast as we could. We made it out of the complex and about 100 feet when the sirens started sounding and the weather got worse. My momma bear instincts kicked in and I peeled into the Lowe's parking lot. Krystle said "keep going!" I refused though, I told her there is no way we would make it so again we ran into Lowe's being pelted by hail. The workers let us in and then locked the doors, the manager was on the intercom saying for all workers and employees to get to the back of the store. We were in the break room. Poor Tristan was terrified and so were we.

We and about 15 others were all sitting there and I looked over at Krystle and realized she was in her pjs and house shoes. I started laughing so hard and told her I didn't even realize she was not dressed. She laughed and said "Yea, and I brought this blanket!"  We stayed there for about 45 minutes until it cleared up and then drove to her dad's house. As we were turning into his subdivision we were amazed at the damage done. It was such a good thing we stopped at Lowe's when we did! Mind you I was in a rental care and all I could think about in Lowe's was " I should have bought that $12 insurance that guy tried to sell me in case something happened to the car." Luckily it had no damage. When I returned it this morning the man told me that the other 2 cars returned that morning were totaled by the storm. Holy cow!

When we got to her dad's we walked around took pictures and thanked God we were safe. I literally have never been so scared, maybe except for THIS time when Tristan was a few months old and we were caught in a storm and I pulled over and ran into a strangers house. Never a dull moment! People's fences were destroyed, basketball goals were knocked over, her dad's neighbor's shed that was in the backyard was now in the front yard. The iron bench that is in the backyard on one side of the pool was picked up and carried over the pool and placed against the other side of the yard against the fence...but thankfully no one was hurt. My mom called and told me that the police had blocked our street off because there was funnel forming and they were all outside watching it. Thank God for his mercies and protection. We are safe and sound, and definitely in Texas!

We finally made it to Tim's house! This is exactly what Tristan and Krystle wore to Lowe's. Ha!

Tristan wanted to do this the ENTIRE time we were there, he is obsessed with stairs!

Tim had blankets in the pantry and said that is where we would go if it got bad again, thankfully it did not.

Tristan loves Krystle so much because she will get on the floor and play with him!

Watching the news!

The neighbor's fence knocked down...

Trees snapped in half...

By the end of the night we were exhausted! We ended up staying the night at Tim's and watching some of the basketball game and then "Blind Side". We had an eventful night and I am looking forward to the most low key one tonight; watching the Oprah finale on dvr, eating dinner, and enjoying our time together as silly girls before one of my very best friends gets married! Love you Krystle. :)
