Busy, busy!

I can't believe that the month of February is almost over! I also can't believe I am about to be 25...half way to 50! ;) I can't believe that my hubby will be coming home in just a matter of WEEKS. I can't believe that I graduate from college, for good, in less than 10 weeks. I can't believe we are about to embark on moving (third time in one year). I can't believe how far we've come!!

Tristan and I have stayed busy as usual...however our lives are about to s-l-o-w down quiet a bit. Yippee!
I am so excited to share parenting/household responsibilities again with my other half. =)
I will be doing some major relaxation (and studying for my state licensing exam) over the next couple of months. I am beyond thankful that I have a husband who not only sees the hard work I do for our family, but values it.

Tristan is enjoying school and "church school" (where he goes during Bible study at our church)!
However, I am so excited for May to get here...we will both be out of school and ready to enjoy SUMMER, trips to the water/splash park, family vacations and a slow pace schedule.

I am happy to report that Tristan's OT feels like he has made awesome progress and no longer needs weekly appointments. This little boy can ride a bike, swing, climb, jump, propel himself, spell his name, and more...like you've never seen before! I am forever grateful to his occupational therapist and Cook Children's Network for the care they gave our boy. One of the main "issues" is how quickly Tristan grows and how it throws his equilibrium off. #tallpeopleproblems Ha! Ms. Mary asked if he had grown since last week, Amari's mom asked if he had grown since the last time she had seen him, and I guess he has. Its hard for me to tell because I seem him daily, but based on other's reactions and the growth charts, he's a growin' boy. 6'10 here we come!!

I have SO much to do before we move and Dwight comes home. Remember how I said he will be missing my Easter outfit dilemma's this year? That may not be true after all. Say a prayer for him. Ha!

Happy Wednesday!!!

Oh, Happy Day!

Despite my hubby being gone on our anniversary, it was a really happy day.
We got to talk several times throughout the day and I got to spend time with all 3 kids!
I had told Dwight a few weeks ago that I was planning on going to his mom's house on our anniversary because she wanted to see us and that was an open day for me.
I didn't know that he had called her and asked for her to make the visit special... =)

Tristan and I started our morning off by going to church.
I think this my new favorite picture of us, together.
Melt my heart!!

I totally confused T by all my anniversary talk. He kept asking if Dwight and I were getting married again. Ha! I tried explaining that wedding anniversaries are like birthdays, they come once a year and get "older". Yeah, utter confusion on his part. =)

The best little stand-in date I could ask for! ;)

Amari and Brianna were already at Dwight's mother's house, when we got there.
The kids were beyond excited to all be together. I love their bond!
My MIL made us a delicious meal, had flowers, a card, and gift for me. It was so sweet for her to participate and make the day a special one. Blessed to have her!

After visiting for a few hours, I took the boys with me, and G-momma took Brianna home since she has school tomorrow. They did NOT want their sister to leave them.

Silly pose! :)

Tristan tried on Amari's sunglasses while we were driving. He use to have 2 or 3 pair of his own and lost them...so, he begged and I mean BEGGED me to take him to get some new ones. Ha!

I planned to take the boys to the mall so they could play at the indoor jump house place and get a dessert while we were there. I forgot to take into consideration that the mall closes early on Sundays. Whoops!
We got to the mall just in time to enjoy a sweet treat, take a potty break and for it to close. I promised the boys we would find another place to go play, and we did! McDonald's it was!

Amari's mom met us at McDonald's and we got to visit while the boys played their hearts out.
After we said goodbye to them, I took this little boy to get his new sunglasses....he deserved them after house hunting all day Friday with me, and being my date today.
Love him!!

Counting down the days till my man gets home!! Depending on if his team makes the playoffs, he could be home as early as middle of next March, the latest mid-April. I CANNOT WAIT!!!

Life Lately & Love

I promised more pictures, so here they are. However, most of them are stolen from my instagram account. =)

The hardest thing about going to school at night, is not being able to put this one to sleep. The first thing I do when I get home is check on him. He looked so sweet and peaceful this night.

My little buddy!

I posted this pic one day on instagram with the caption "I feel like I have an infant again with my current sleep schedule." I have been staying up way TOO late to do homework and study, not fun! It's been four years since my life consisted of middle of the night feedings/changings. Man, I forgot how hard it is to function on little to no sleep. Ha!

Tristan and I went house hunting all afternoon, Friday.
It was exhausting, but he was SO good. I think I found us the perfect place. I am SO ready to have my husband home and our family under the same roof, again!!

I LOVE this little boy!!

My sis is in a wedding today. She was trying on her dress yesterday and Tristan asked to get in it with her. Ha!

Tristan asks me everyday "would you  be sad if I were 6....25.....31....5 (etc)?"
He is totally obsessed with being older and taller than everyone. It is so funny. It is even funnier because he has no clue that he is probably going to be VERY tall as an adult, like 6'8 or taller (according to his doctor). Stay little sweet boy, you have plenty of time to get older/bigger!

Ashley and mom, before the ballet.
Pretty ladies!

Silly boy! ;)

Today is mine and Dwight's one year wedding anniversary!!
What a year it has been!
We have moved twice, Dwight has lived out his dream of playing professional basketball overseas, I have completed 2 more semesters of grad school and started an internship, the kids have grown and experienced life as a family of five...and so much more is to come!

Happy anniversary, baby! I love you!!!

Thursday's Thoughts

  1. How is it already Thursday...and the end of February?!?! Time is flying by, and quite honestly I am okay with that (only until Dwight gets home and I graduate...then it can slow down!).
  2. I have been staying up way too late the past two days (1:30am Tuesday night and 3am Wednesday night) to do homework. I am determined to get caught up and a head this weekend so I can go back to my 10:30pm bedtime. I need sleep!!
  3. Tristan is hilarious and comes up with the funniest things out of nowhere. He makes me laugh, daily. He'll say stuff like "I know it's hard to understand, but..." "Seriously, mom, seriously?" "Well, actually..." My favorite from yesterday "I'm done with these red lights!" as I was driving us home. I'm really working with him on being respectful and not trying to be funny all the time. What is funny at 4 is not so funny at 14. Ha!
  4. Mine and Dwight's 1 year anniversary is on Sunday! SO blessed to have him as my husband, and SO ready for him to come home.
  5. I presented my recorded counseling session to my class, Tuesday night. I don't know about you but I hate watching/hearing myself on video...imagine watching/hearing yourself COUNSEL someone on said video. Nerve wrecking!!! ;)
  6. I have my third follow up appointment at my all natural Dr. this afternoon. I am excited to see the progress my body has made and what is next.
  7. I had to watch the movie "Sling Blade" last night. I am in the process of drafting a case review of the lead character, where I have to diagnose him and come up with a treatment plan. My mom kept asking me "what is your diagnosis....what do you think he has? Personality disorder?!" Then my Poppy would come in with "well, I'll tell you what he is...not all there." I told him "that is not a medical diagnosis". I finally ordered them both to stop talking to me and put headphones in so I could watch the movie on my computer without them hearing. Ha!
  8. I have nothing planned for my Friday night, and I've never been so happy about it. I plan on getting in sweats, watching a movie and eating take out. Oh, and a 7:30pm bedtime for T. =)
  9. I can't believe I turn 25 in 3 weeks. I know I'm really not "old" but I feel like I should still be 16, sometimes. Where does the time go?!? Married...three kids...(almost) two degrees...what's next?! I can't wait to see!
  10. Am I the only mother who obsesses over matching Easter outfits? Dwight joked that he is happy he will miss the commotion in finding those outfits, this year...poor Tristan. Ha! I have already started scouting the perfect Sunday dress attire for my little man.
  11. I am going to do better at taking pictures this next week. You know I'm busy when I don't have a single picture to share. Ha!
  12. Off to finish my case study, grab a bite to each and maybe stare into space for 5 minutes (seriously!) before picking Tristan up from school...my FAVORITE part of the day!

Talk About Tuesday!

  • Not a whole lot to talk about other than the fact that I am swamped with homework/projects/papers/transcribing an entire 45 minute session I did with a client. Not fun! But, graduation is approaching... I have a count down, t-minus 3 months!!!

  • I was changing Tristan's shirt this morning and he in all seriousness said "mommy, you think it's appropriate to take a man's shirt off like that?" I would've gotten Onto him for being a tad bit disrespectful, but I couldn't stop laughing. Ha!!

  • What is up with this weather?!? 70's yesterday and then 39 degrees this morning. Brrr! Sunday was beautiful and we took full advantage of the weather with a trip to get icecream!

  • I am skipping my Bible study this morning (see first bullet). I hate to miss but I have to give myself grace when my plate is so full.

  • My hubby will be home soon... I can't wait!

  • Tristan got me out of a speeding ticket, Sunday night. He literally begged the officer to not take me to jail...a bit dramatic but hey, it worked. Ha! For the record, I would NEVER ask my child to do such a thing. I kept trying to calm him down and explain that there are consequences when we break the rules...but he didn't want to hear it! The Keller police had mercy on me...or didn't want to scar a young child. ;)

  • Happy Tuesday! I leave you with a sweet video of my son!

  • *Translation: "I am the head and NOT the tail. I am above only and NOT beneath. I am blessed going in, and blessed going out, and everything I set my hands to, will PROSPER!!!"

Valentines Day Celebrations!

I know I say this all the time, but prepare yourself for the longest post, ever. Ha!

Tristan and I are so fortunate to know so many awesome mommies and babies/tots.
The past week has been filled with many celebrations, playdates and fun...all centered around Valentines Day! We started off our week on Monday, at our church for a party with my Bible study group. It was tons of fun and all the kids were precious!!

Each kid got to stand one at a time and have cards and treats brought to them!
Like Tristan's bag? Ha! He refused to hold anything pink/with hearts/girly. :)

LOVE him!!

Faith and Tristan playing at the party.

The night before V-day, Tristan and I baked some delicious, festive cupcakes for our family to enjoy!
Pouring all the ingredients in...

Such a cute little helper!!
Mixing...

Sprinkle time!

All done!

YUM!
**we are currently on a sugar detox at our house. Ha! (but seriously!)**

Oh how my child loves himself some sweets!!

I absolutely love Tristan's teachers. They are seriously amazing. I wanted to do something special for them to express our love and appreciation, so I put together some of their favorite goodies in these red buckets.
Lots of chocolate, their favorite soft drinks/snacks, gum, Starbucks coffee and my favorite invention...the re-usable, plastic straw cups. They were so excited and thankful for their treats.

My favorite craft T did at school and brought home! :)

Valentines morning, Tristan woke up EXCITED and ready to go!
I got him dressed for his party and even got a few cute pics out of him. ;)

I decided to dress up in festive attire, as well! ;)

I had one counseling session to do on Thursday. I see clients in the same building Tristan goes to school (which I love), so I walked over to see his class when I finished up. T always tells me that he chases the girls at school...well, I caught him in the act! This picture cracks me up!! That boy....

Lining up to go inside for the party!

The party started off with a fun game.
Tristan listened intently to hear the rules. :)

He thought it was so funny when his buddy, Pierce had his turn!

Speaking of Tristan and his "best bud"... we had a playdate with Pierce and his siblings this morning. I absolutely LOVED his family and getting to talk with his mom!
p.s. Is my son a giant or what?!? He is older than Pierce by a few months, but still...

Time to decorate sugar cookies!

Lookie there, it's Mimi!! She literally got out of the hospital, went home to shower, change and get ready, then came to the party. Seriously, that is one awesome grandma!!

My very messy eater!

Mimi had been in the hospital for the past 4 days due to a brown recluse bite. She went through a lot and had to undergo some severe treatment but thankfully she has been healed!

Nothing brings more joy to my heart than being this boy's momma!

You would think our celebrations ended there, right? Wrong! =)
Tristan had to open gifts from Mimi and Poppy!

His favorite, a John Deere tractor!

Poppy demonstrating how it works!

ALL boy!!

Tristan and I ended our night at my sister in-laws house.
Her husband works nights and mine is overseas, so we had a good girl time!

My sweet niece, Lenox!

Cousins!

Well, I would say Valentines Day was a total success!
Although I missed my hubs, it was still a sweet day. Plus I know it is our last one to be apart.
I can't believe our anniversary is next Sunday, so much love in our hearts and thankful for every bit of it!

Today is FRIDAY and I am having a much needed girls night with my bff, Jill!
TGIF :)
