3 year checkup

I am not working this week, unplanned but greatly accepted. Today, Tristan and I took it easy and enjoyed a relaxing morning around the apartment. Later this afternoon I took Tristan for his 3 year checkup and the stats were, drum roll please....

3 feet 4 inches for height, 96th percentile
32 pounds and 6 ounces for weight, 58th percentile
overall body index is in the 3rd percentile which in Dr. Deitchman's words means, Tristan is LONG and lean!

Tristan got 1 shot, Hep A. Dr. D said at his next checkup he will need 4 shots (not gonna happen!) but I will be spacing them out and sparing my child and his body the shock of being pumped full or viruses/drugs all at one time.

Since Tristan's umbilical hernia has not improved we were referred to a pediatric surgeon so we will be going to the Southlakelocation for a consult and further examination.

Dr. D also referred us to a speech pathologist, by my request. Tristan is a smart little cookie, however, he is having a difficult time pronouncing certain words/sounds. I know it may seem premature to get him in speech therapy but I would much rather him start at 3 years old and be ready by 5 years old to enter school, then wait until he gets to school and has to be pulled out of class for individual attention. My opinion is that learning how to talk with a pacy in his mouth made it difficult for his mouth/tongue to learn how to operate properly, so we will be working hard on that. Dr. D is not worried about it but said if I felt like it was in his best interest he would trust my opinion. I love that doctor! :)

Last but not least is a funny story from our checkup. Dr. Deitchman did a "full" examination of Tristan and explained that it is only okay for him to be doing what he was, because mommy was there. He told Tristan "no one is allowed to touch you or look at you here, even a doctor, unless mommy is in the room." After the Dr. was done with the examination I asked Tristan "Did you understand what Dr. Deitchman was telling you? No one is allowed to touch or look at your private unless mommy or Mimi is there. If someone ever tries to then you need to tell them to stop, and tell mommy right away." Tristan was intently listening and looked at me and said "Ya, I'll tell them HEY PEOPLE, DON'T TOUCH MY PRIVATE!!!" He was so loud, I am sure the whole office heard but it was hilarious and one of our first teachable/serious moments. It has clearly been on his mind a lot because after I tucked him in for the night he told me "Mommy, people can't touch my private, it's not okay." I said "That is right, people have to respect your body." Then he asked "Does Jesus respect my private?" I replied "Your private is apart of your body, it is nothing to be ashamed of. Jesus made your whole body. He respects it and wants other people to respect it too." To that he said "Oh, okay!"
Oh the conversations we have...!

Weekend Wrap Up

This weekend went by way too fast!! I had SO much to do and so little time to do it. Isn't that the life of most mom's?! :) I had to take this picture of Tristan in his footie pjs. He may be nearly 4 feet tall but I can't resist buying them in the fall/winter and putting him in them!

Saturday night Faith and her brother Colby came over for a sleep over. It really is easier having more kids(when they are older) they play and keep each other occupied! We all woke up the next morning and went to church. Afterwards I took all 3 of them back to Faith's house for her mom to watch. I was so thankful that Tristan could stay and play for a few hours because I had SO much homework.

This is what my apartment looked like at one point. I looked up around me and laughed, this is my life. Writing papers, reading textbooks, researching, counseling, counseling, and more counseling!!

Lesley brought Tristan back to me around 3pm and he took a late afternoon nap because we were meeting my parents and sisters in downtown Fort Worth for dinner at Unos!

We celebrated my beautiful mother's birthday!

This picture cracks me up. Tristan's bib says " I just pulled an all nighter." Thankfully that is completely false! He has had this bib since he was an infant and really did pull all nigthers. If you know Tristan or ever eaten a meal with him you know how MESSY of an eater her is. I grabbed a bib to take with us and this is the one that made the cut. Ha! :)

Happy birthday mom!! Could job Mel picking out yummy desserts.

Our waitor sang to my mom and had an amazing voice, definitely unexpected!

Of course Tristan had to be apart of blowing out the candles, only he doesn't really blow he spews so mom used her hand as a spit shield. :)

I think this picture was after Tristan downed 2 pieces of cake and aunt Ashley bribed him to come sit with her by offering him another bite. That boy can eat!!

I love Tristan's big cheesie smile!

I forget how much I love downtown and you think I would go a lot more often since we live less than 20 minutes from it, but I don't. My sisters and I decided we would do a girls night and go back soon!

Today was picture day at school so Tristan dressed up, he looked so handsome!

Fisher and Tristan, bestbuds!

Tristan gave Fisher a hug and said "we're brothers!!" It was so sweet and hilarious.

Getting his picture made!

Well thats a recap of our weekend. This week is jammed pack with more birthday celebrations, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my little sis, Melody who turns 22 today!! And finishing...okay, starting my 20 page research paper that is due Friday. Yuck!

Happy Monday! :)

FALL Favorites!

I am LOVING this cooler weather. I can't get enough of it! The evening before Tristan's birthday party (last Friday) we had a huge rain storm. It was so relaxing, I opened up the patio door, put up a baby gate and enjoyed the nice weather. Tristan did too! :)

I also went on a mini fall shopping spree for Tristan. People always ask me where I get his clothes and really it's all over the place; Nordstrom Rack, Marshall's, TJ Max, Children's Place, Baby Gap, Oldnavy and Target are a few of my favorites. I love finding a good deal and still getting good, quality, cute clothes. It is certainly a harder task when shopping for boys but I think I have learned the art of it! :)

**Funny story** I put this orange shirt on Tristan today and he insisted on keeping the "sticker" on it. Only it wasn't a real sticker, just the words 4T all the way down it. Ha! After distracting him I ripped it off. Ha!

I peeked into Tristan's class yesterday and saw this. They were doing song a movement to a color song and it was precious!! They have also been learning a days of the week song and Tristan belts it out at the top of his lungs. I love getting to see first hand what he is up to all day long. :)

My friend Melissa made this for Tristan for his birthday. I LOVE it!

My two favorite preschoolers about to go to Tristan's bday party last Saturday!

And my last fall favorite...decorating with fall decor (still have lots to add!) and lighting caramel pumpkin candles!

Happy Fall, Y'all!!

Final Birthday Party Celebration

Sunday was the final birthday party Celebration...for Tristan. September is a busy month for our family, we have TONS of bdays this month!! My aunt Pam is the 17th, Tristan's aunt Mel is the 26th, aunt Natalie the 27th, Mimi the 29th and those are just family members. We have even more friends with Sept birthdays so you can imagine why I was so excited to have an Oct due date...little did I know! :)

Sunday the 18th was Tristan's actual birthday so we stayed home from church and met the family at Chuck E Cheese aka Tristan's favorite place to go! Before we went to Chuck's, Tristan and I spent the morning alone at our apartment. It was such a sweet time and I will never forget it. I woke him up singing "Happy Birthday" and then made us breakfast. He was in an extra sweet mood and it just made the morning perfect.

One of my bff Allie brought Tristan a Mickey Mouse hat (that he wore the whole weekend) home from a Disney trip a few months ago!

We had so much fun playing!

Presents!!

I love Tristan's face here, you would never know it was a package of underwear he had opened. Ha! It was Thomas underwear and that's why he is so excited. :)

Opening mommy's present...

It was a hit! He put his hand on his face and just stared at it. SO sweet, he loves trucks so you can imagine how happy he was to get an 18 wheeler battery operated truck hauling 5 smaller trucks. I am such a mom of a little boy! :)

Mimi brought some more cupcakes so we could sing to the birthday boy, again!

Getting help blowing out the candles from Poppy and Mimi!

Pa pa and Poppy had so much fun taking Tristan on rides and playing games.

LOVE my boy!!

This is my favorite picture from the whole weekend. My mom has been my rock and partner in raising Tristan. We wouldn't be where we are with out her. She really is the best, selfless grandma/mother ever.
We love her so very much!!!

That wraps up nearly 2 weeks straight of posting a blog a day, that has to be some sort of a record (for me)! We have lots planned this weekend and I am swamped with school work so hopefully it won't be too long before another update!

TGIF....almost! :)

Party Part 3: Goodies, Gifts and Guests!

After the kids played we went to the party room and enjoyed goodies (cupcakes), gifts and all our guests!

Jackson is one of my bff's from high school son. He came prepared with Mickey ears!

Gotta love my little serious boy!!

Singing "Happy Birthday"

Senia stepped in to the gift opening madness to help me! :)

You know you have good friends when they will come to a 3 year old party (when they don't even had kids)!

My precious photographer and bff. Don't know what I would do with out this girl!

Tristan and his fan club. Can you tell he is loved?!

Aunt "Nadawie"

Poppy and Mimi!

Nanny and Pa pa with their great grandson. They are so proud of him!

Aunt Mel!

My two Sept 18 birthdays :)

Ashley brought out all the balloons and let Tristan release them. He LOVED it!

Needless to say we were partied out! We went home unloaded gifts, rested for a little bit then got back out to go to Joey's birthday party since his birthday was that day. I am so blessed to have the family and friends that I do. They love Tristan so much. We celebrated the next day (Sunday) since it was Tristan's actual birthday, at Chuck E Cheese. The birthday posting shall continue!
