Fun filled FALL weekend....picture overload!

Tristan and I had such a fun weekend. This weather is beautiful and makes me so happy to burn all my fall pumpkin spices/apple pie/ oatmeal cookie candles (not at the same time!) and make yummy soups in the crock pot. I LOVE fall!

Friday night we took it easy and relaxed at home, we needed it after a busy week. Saturday we got up and I told Tristan we were going to have a day-date. I love that as he gets older he is more of a little buddy...we can talk, laugh, and I get to answer A LOT of questions. I took little man to the mall and exchanged his Tiny Toms for a bigger size, apparently they were a little too tiny. :) While we were there the Nordstoms lady talked me into getting him some brown converses as well...he did need some brown shoes after all! He thought it was so funny that someone other than me was putting on his shoes and asking how they felt. He even scored a red balloon, total success in the eyes of a 3 year old!

After Nordstroms we headed to "Shick fil A" in the food court and had lunch. My son can eat!!

Then I took him to get a M&M cookie sandwich filled with icing from American Cookie, have I mentioned how much this child loves chocolate?!? I only know two other people that like it as much as him, my aunt Pam and my bff Krystle. I think he could probably out eat them! :)

Then we HAD to ride the motorcycle ( 4 times).

I had every intention of leaving after his ride but Baby Gap was calling our name...so I answered. Ha! I love that store and the skinny jeans little man has been rockin' from them after our trip there. :) Saturday night I took Tristan to his friend's Halloween party. He had been looking forward to it all day.

This morning we went to church, came home and I made pork chops which were delicious!! Afterwards we got ready for our housewarming party.

I had to snap a few pictures of Tristan after church, he agreed to after being bribed with chocolate!

This is my new favorite picture of my sweet boy. His bright eyes and facial expression explain him to a "T". Love him!!

Our apartment is coming together. We got the bedroom curtains up but I still have some stuff to put up on the main wall in the bedroom and of course the frame for the bed.

My little Lightening McQueen

I had planned to dress Tristan up as Mickey Mouse for Halloween and he seemed excited about it but I was late in getting his costume and they were sold out. So instead we got a Lightening McQueen costume! Tristan really does like Mickey Mouse, a lot... but he LOVES cars, way more. Despite his expression in the picture below, he was SOOOOO excited to get to be a car.

Yesterday Primrose had Halloween parties for every class at 4pm so the kids got to bring their costumes and the teachers changed them before it started. I put my dislike for character clothing aside and let my boy be a boy and wear his Car's shirt. :)

My mom and Natalie came up to the school to be with Tristan in his class during the party and I got to step out of my class for about 20 minutes and join them too. Tristan was acting so shy!!

We came home and my outgoing boy was back and happy as ever to have goodie bags. I scrub his teeth (with the electric toothbrush) last night, and I made him eat fruit with his dinner. Ha!

We have a weekend full of fun; a dress up party tonight, our house warming party tomorrow and Halloween on Monday!

I would just like to say as fun as it is to participate in dressing up for Halloween, we DO NOT do anything that is morbid/demonic/creepy. I'm not into scary movies, costumes or anything else that is a refletion of anything associated with a satanic theme. We are simply enjoying using our imaginations and we dress up as fun, innocent characters!

Satan is the trick, Jesus is the TREAT!!!

Thursday's Thoughts!

1.) Tristan cried when I left for class last night, it made my heart ache. I hate that I have to leave him two nights a week for 4-5 hours but I know that in the end it will dramatically improve his future.

2.) I got to class on Tuesday night and was greeted by a girl who was my partner in writing a 20 page research paper. She looked at me and said "Are you ready?" I instantly knew what she was talking about, but had forgotten all about it up until that very second. We had a 1 hour presentation to give to our Multicultural Perspectives class over counseling the Latino culture. I had ZERO preparation so I had to just wing it. We did AMAZING (praise God) and our professor told us so afterwards.

3.) I fell asleep on the couch last night after class, when I woke up and went to take my contacts out, I ripped the right one as I took it out of my eye because it was so dry. So I sit here partially blind waiting for the eye doctor to open so I can get contacts and glasses...I've been putting them both off so I guess it's a good thing.

4.) I don't have to be at work until noon on Mon, Thurs, and Fri's but I usually have Tristan up there by 9:30am so he can have a set schedule. Well, today we slept in and we are both in our jammies eating our glutten free/organic waffles, strawberries, raspberries and pineapple for breakfast. And, of course watching M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E! :)

5.) I need a vacation, at a resort where I can get a  back massage all day and eat all the food I want. Sounds like a little piece of heaven!

6.) Tristan woke up yesterday morning and told me "Mommy, I beat the giant." He loves the story of David and Goliath so I figured he had a dream about it. I asked him if he dreamt about being David and he said "No, I was with David and we fought Goliath and he said "Good job Tristan!"" Haha so sweet, I love his heart for Bible stories already!

7.) My Counseling Victims of Trauma professor, Dr. Jerry Mungadze is absolutely amazing. He works with the FBI, Herschel Walker, and many famous court cases we've seen on the news. It has been such a blessing to sit under his teaching, it is literally a once in a life time opportunity. You won't find anyone more respected in the field of studying trauma in the brain. If you google him or click on is name above, you will see A TON of information about him. Last night in class he invited his students to sit in one of his seminars for free which are normally $200 a person. We also get to go to office an observe a group counseling session. I am VERY excited about that!!

8.) My best friend, Krystle's wedding is coming up and I am sooooo happy for her and to be in the wedding. Just a few weeks! :)

9.) I love that it is cold outside and I can finally put Tristan in all the sweaters with collared shirts underneath and his new Tiny Toms! :)

10.) Tomorrow is Friday, wooohooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

11.) I love my sisters! Even though Melody isn't pictured in his photo, I love her too! :) I especially love all the random text messages I get from here each day about the Kardashians, boys, and many other things I probably shouldn't blog about; she is a mess!

FUN-filled weekend!

We had a super fun weekend. Friday night one of my friends from my previous job, Maegan, and I had a much needed girls night! We ended it with a 3am trip to What a burger and a sleep over at my apartment. I woke up the next morning and remembered why I don't stay up past 12 am anymore. Ha! It was fun though, so much that I didn't take one picture (that's a miracle). 

Saturday Tristan got to spend the entire day with his Mimi and Poppy and that made him THE happiest boy in the world. He loves them so much, I think they feel the same way! :) While they watched Tristan I went and got my oil change, met the people who bought the Chicco travel system (they were so sweet and new of DBU and Gateway, I felt better losing it to them) to the mall for some shopping and then home to get ready to watch So You Think You Can Dance's top 10 dancers perform an AMAZING show with my sisters.

 We had so much fun! This is our second time to see the tour and I know it won't be our last.

I bought Tristan a pair of Tiny Toms during my shopping trip. I love that they send a pair of shoes to a child in need with every purchase.

While we were at the show my mom kept sending me pictures of what they were doing. Tristan got to go to a pumpkin patch/carnival in Colleyville! They said he had the best time. When he got home he told me "Poppy let me have a sucker and gummy bears!" Of course I didn't care, but it was funny because he definitely told on him! :)  

Today we went to church, heard an amazing message and then Ash and I took Tristan to lunch and to buy his Halloween costume!

We have taken it easy the rest of the day; took a nap, decorated some cookies and I took my final midterm for the semester!! I can't believe I am halfway done with my second semester in grad school, this time next year I'll be a semester away from graduating...oh I cannot wait for that GLORIOUS day!

Mimi and Poppy are on their way over to deliver dinner and curtains for my bedroom (I love living 7 minutes from them!!) and I will continue my evening of REST.

Baby book

Tristan is talking SO much these days, actually, he never stops. Ha! I was religious in keeping a baby book for him his 1st year of life and I love looking back over all of his milestones. Since there is no more room in it I thought I would document some of my favorite sayings of Tristan on here. He mispronounces some words but I wasn't even going to attempt to spell them the way he says them! He does have a speech evaluation at Cook Children's next month, I am interested to see what they say.

Tristan you LOVE to say...

"Woooaaahhh cheerioh!" When we drive down the same street each day on the way to school, it is a big hill and you think it is hysterical to go down it.
"Mommy, you should know better than that." A phrase I have told you many times when redirecting you, now you redirect me. Ha!
"I'm doing it mommy, I'm really doing it mommy!" When you accomplish something new.
"OKAY mommy, whatever you say!" Something you say when you want to get your way! :)
"Yooouuu betcha!" One of your corny phrases that you must have gotten from Barney. Ha!
"Hip hip HOORAY!" Another tv phrase you love to say.
"Can I lay on your shoulder? That would be perfect." When asking me to rock you to sleep because you hate lying down by yourself.
"I'm pretending to go to school" When you were playing with your cars. It amazes me that you know words like "pretend" and the context to use them in.
"Mommy, I need privacy" When going to the restroom the other day.
"I'm going to tell your mom!" Whenever I don't do something you want me to do.
I always say you can tell that you're the child of a future therapist. You are very in touch with your feelings because I am always asking you "how does that make you feel?" You will come up to me and say "Mommy, I feel sad because your hurt my feelings and that makes me mad." Then we sit and have a talk, hey it's free counseling! Ha ha
"Mommy, can we go to old McDonald had a farm?" When passing a McDonald's tonight. I told you no, you asked why and I said because it's not healthy and you really don't even like their chicken nuggets. You said "Those chicken nuggets are awesome" while crying about not getting your way. Ha!

When we were leaving Primrose today a teacher stopped us and said how cute you were, the director over heard her and said "there is cute and then there is beautiful, he is beautiful."
 It made me smile because of course I think you're beautiful (on the inside and out) but I am glad others see it too! :)

Here we are this morning before going to school. Primrose had a photographer come out and offer to do photo sessions with students, so of course I had to sign us up!It's hard to tell in this picture but your shirt was hot pink and black stripes to match mommy's hot pink jeans. I can't wait to see how the pictures turn out, she did an amazing job!

Carseat and stroller. I am a total sappy, sentimental mess. Pretty much anything that was/is Tristan's means something special to me. However, it just isn't practical to hold onto everything he has. As he has grown I have given clothes away and kept the items that were super special or super cute! :) I let my good friend Trish borrow his carseat when she had her little girl, Sadie last November. She texted me last weekend and told me that Sadie got a big girl carseat and that they didn't need it anymore. I picked it up and washed it, every.single.piece of it. It looked brand new. I debated whether or not I should hold onto it, donate it, sell it... I decided to put it on Craigslist and a little piece of me hoped it wouldn't sell (ridiculous, I know) but I've already gotten offers. After just 3 days. :( So, I am preparing myself to say bye to the carseat I brought my baby home in from the hospital, the stroller I pushed him many miles in; on walks, at the zoo, in the mall...wherever we wanted to go. I don't like this "growing up" stuff my son is doing. Well, I don't like certain parts of it. My baby really isn't a baby anymore and every time I pack away another item, I am reminded. I cried the day I took the crib down, I'll probably cry the day the lady picks up the carseat and stroller for her new baby. I just keep reminding myself that it's not the material item that holds the sentiment, it's the precious memories (and pictures) that do.

And because I know I will be asked, yes, I do want more babies but when that time comes we'll get another travel system. This one has been amazing and I highly recommend anything Chicco for those looking. Both carseat and stroller held up for 3 years and for 2 babies. We still have our teal Chicco umbrella stroller and soon Tristan won't need that either...but I won't even think about that right now!! :)
