It feels so good to be back! But, the break was much needed and appreciated. I didn't realize HOW much time I spend on the internet until it was taken away for 3 weeks. The only thing I got on to do was check my email, I read a couple of blogs of other people here and there, and got on for school work. But my main focus was to take some time off from the facebook/blogging "alternate" world and focus on my actual day to day life.
We have had a busy, exciting, semi-rested, eventful, fruitful month! Thankfully I didn't fast from my camera so I have lots of pictures to prove it. So, here is what we've been up to...
We met Jill for breakfast one morning and ended up staying so late that we went ahead and ate lunch too. Ha! What can I say, she is my bff and we always have lots to talk about. :) However I got no picture of me and Jill but a few of little man before we left.
I had a fabulous girls day with my other bff Krystle. She was sooo sweet and treated me to a massage in Southlake! We enjoyed a yummy lunch at Panera the next day after church and of course, lots of talking occurred.
Tristan and I got lots of one-on-one time together. We enjoyed playing in his room, vegging around the house, running errands, and having lots of "mommy and me time". We tried to keep as warm as we could during the super cold days.
My wonderful Gateway Group met for the first and second time. Oh how I love those ladies so.very.much. They are such blessings to my life! I will have to get a picture of all of us this Wednesday when we meet.
Poppy and Mimi had their nightly "Tristan duty" while I went to work and this is how my mom found Poppy and Tristan in my bed one night. How funny is this??!!
Tristan went on many a playdates. The boy has quite a social life. One of his favorites was to Chuck E Cheese with Emma, Tripp and aunt Jill. I love watching him enjoy his friend's company. It just goes to show that even at a young age we were created for relationship. I pray Tristan builds lasting, fruitful friendships that he can carry with him his whole life.
Jill is such a wonderful friend to me and aunt to Tristan. Last Wednesday she picked Tristan up from school, took him home and her and her husband cooked him dinner, played and let me sleep til 7:30pm that night. They are so proud of him and always so willing to help.
And yes, I gave my son his pacifier to prevent major meltdown mode when it was time to leave...desperate times call for desperate measures!
Don't they look like 2 little men here chatting away? They are so funny together.
Knocked out from a morning of playing!
We went to church some more, wore hats instead of fixing our (Tristan's) hair (which is getting so long and curly!) and to lunch with aunt Ashley afterwards.
My new favorite picture of my son!!

They newly re-did the children's area near in the nursery and despite the look on T's face, he loved it! :)
Perhaps the BIGGEST news is that we began potty training! Tristan has shown interest for some time now which is kind of uncommon for most boys his age but I am more than okay with it. The very first time he sat on the potty he went and was SO proud of himself, so was I! We cheered, sang, dance...nearly cried. All for pee pee and poo poo, who would've thought?! Ha. I must say he is too precious wearing underwear that aunt Ashley bought for him. We let him pick out the kind he wanted and surprisingly he turned down Mickey AND Thomas for Cars, the movie underwear. He has never seen it before but based on his love for race cars, I guess I wasn't too shocked.
I asked my mom to bring T a piece of chocolate to reward/re-enforce his good "deeds" and she did. However, she brought him a gourmet chocolate truffle. Seriously??!! ONLY Mimi would do that. I was thinking an M&M or 2. She cracks me up. Nothing but the best for her grandbaby.
Can you tell by his face above and below that he was proud of himself?!

Tristan definitely has the hang of going potty! On day two he had ZERO accidents and his teachers sent a note home saying that he did great at school going potty! It's so nice to take his diapers off and see that there is nothing in them. I guess I'll give the rest of the ones we have away and start letting him wear pull ups and underwear more. I can't believe it was so easy, I think it's my reward for him not being a good sleeper. :)
I went to the endorcinologist last week for the results of my blood work and found out that I do NOT have hyperthyroidism!! Praise God. My iron levels are slighlty low so I will be on 1 iron supplement a day. However, my Vitamin D levels are in my doctor's exact words "very, VERY low". The normal level is 40 mine is at a 6. She asked me, are you tired ALL the time, feel dizzy and just miserable?! I thought wow...um, not really. Ha! Since I work nights its hard for me to tell if I'm tired due to that or because of other chemical reason but dizzy, yes. I get horrible dizzy spells that nearly take me to the ground. She prescribed me 50,000 IU of vitamin D to take once a week for 3 months, 2 Vitamin D supplements a day and I have to sit in the sun atleast 15 minutes a day. Working the night shift I go home at 7am and the sun is barely rising, I wake up at 5/6pm and it's getting dark. I need sun! Then I will go back for another round of blood work (yippee) to re-test my levels. I say ALL that to say that there is no medical reason why I haven't been gaining weight, so I just have to start eating a whole lot more. I will be consulting a nutrionist for help on eating the right foods and the right amounts of it.
The last thing I've been up to is graduate school. I can't believe I'm actually enrolled and taking classes but I LOVE it already. So different from undergrad. I had class from 5:30 to 10:30pm then went straight to work til 7am last week. Thank goodness my 5:30 class ends on 7:45pm and only meets on Monday and my 8-10:30pm class is only every other Monday! :)
During our break Mimi and Poppy's Christmas present FINALLY came in the mail. Better late than never! Mimi had it framed and up the same day she loved it! I got them an 11 x 14 canvas of a pic of them from Tristan's 2 year photos. :)
Well there ya have it. We have been busy but blessed. I am off to capitalize on Tristan's nap time and do some home/house work. I PROMISE that the next post will be Tristan's room. It is finished, actually it's been finished for about 3 weeks now but I was on my blogging break.
